Maa Shailputri is worshipped on Pratipada (Day 1) of Navratri. Her name means “daughter of the mountains” (Shail = mountain), and she is regarded as the pure, calm, and steady form of Maa Parvati. She teaches a powerful lesson: before growth, you need a strong foundation.

Simple worship steps

  1. Light a diya and offer clean water to Maa.
  2. Offer white flowers and simple prasad.
  3. Chant the mantra 11 or 21 times.
  4. Sit quietly for 2 minutes and set a sankalp for stability in life.
